‘Thank you Lesley for such a warm welcome and a much needed welcome pack. Such a beautiful location and the view of the various birds visiting the bird table, amazing. So much to see, so little time. We will recommend to friends.’

Autumn is coming…..
Gelert and I love to wander the winding lanes and tracks through The Crychan and Halfway Forests. Never far away from the warmth of the woodburner at The Byre at Maesygwaelod. Nature’s bounty in the form of the wonderful blackberries all around. One for me, one for him….
The Usk Reservoir- Summer 2017
A really lovely local walk, just a short car drive away from The Byre, is around the circumference of the Usk Reservoir – about 8km (5 miles). Mostly flat, it is an easy walk for hikers and dog walkers (dogs on lead around boat jetty)
Walking along the Epynt Way – July 2017
A beautiful day to take a stroll up to the Sennybridge Range and along the Epynt Way with Gelert.
Summer in the Crychan Forest
Walking in the forest and around the local lanes, the hedgerow is in full bloom. Dog rose, Meadow Sweet, Cowslips, Buttercups and Hollyhocks all jostle for position in the Sum. The perfume from the rambling Honeysuckle is particularly heady early in the morning and in the evening.
Skylarks seen (and heard) for the first time this year up on the heathland.
Excellent dog walking , from your door!
The Summer seems to be finally here, and our puppy Gelert is really enjoying the local scenery. Today, we saw Red Kite, Pied Wagtails, Jays, Swifts, Swallows, Rabbits, Peacocks, Cows and of course hundreds of Sheep – but not another human!!

Carreg Cennen Castle
Lovely visit to Carreg Cennen Castle, near Llandeilo!
Brilliant, if spooky walk down the tunnel and into its dark, underground cave.
Don’t forget your torch!
